IBDNAI Committee
Only paid up members of the association are eligible for election to the committee.
A committee will be elected at Annual General Meeting of no less than 8 members (a quorum). The committee will consist of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Education officer and two committee members.
It is proposed that no more than four office bearers change in any given year.

Zena Quirke is Chairperson of the IBD Nurses Association of Ireland (IBDNAI) and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner specialising in inflammatory bowel disease. She commenced her nursing education at Kingston University, London, in 1996 and qualified with a Diploma in Nursing in 2000.
After returning to Ireland, Zena completed a Higher Diploma in Nursing through TUI and subsequently undertook multiple Level 9 postgraduate programmes with a specialist focus on colorectal and inflammatory bowel disease. She completed a Master’s degree in Advanced Practice at NUI Galway in 2021. She is a member of ISG and ECCO.
With over 17 years’ experience dedicated exclusively to inflammatory bowel disease, Zena has progressed from staff nurse to Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Her advanced practice is characterised by autonomous, independent nurse-led clinical decision-making, comprehensive assessment and management of IBD, and the clinical application of intestinal bowel ultrasound to support diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment planning. Her role also incorporates service development, research and audit, professional leadership, and national advocacy to advance high-quality, patient-centred IBD care.
